Hear What Others Miss

Adjectives label things and confess concepts. Adverbs carry who your client believes they were. Absolutes focus every possibility into a single certainty. Learn to hear all three as choices, not throwaway words.

Ask the One Question That Opens Deeper Conversation

No frameworks to memorize. Reflect the word back as a question and let silence work. You'll leave with awareness and questions you can use in your very next session, drawn from real client conversations.

Sharper in Your Very Next Session

This is not theory to absorb. It is ear training. You'll finish hearing qualifiers you've walked past for years, in real client conversations, in your own First Listen answers, and in the first session you coach after the program. One qualifier, one question, and the conversation goes somewhere new.

What is The 3As About?

EXAMPLE: Two people go to the same concert. The next day, one calls it the greatest show ever. The other says it was a waste of a night. Same event, two different worlds, and the entire difference lives in their word choice. Your clients do this in every session. The adjectives, adverbs, and absolutes they choose are personal choices, built from their experiences looking back and their expectations looking forward. These words reveal how your client perceives everything around them, and most coaches walk right past them. The 3As of Coaching trains your ear to hear these subtle clues. Through three focused teaching segments, you'll learn what each qualifier reveals and the question that opens it up. You'll begin with a First Listen worksheet that captures your baseline ear, practice each A in a companion worksheet, learn where word-level listening ends and referral begins, and the end of the program, you will hear your clients differently, with a more nuanced ear. This is a self-study program for credentialed coaches at the ACC, PCC, and MCC levels. A shorter version of this program has been previously presented to ICF chapters across the United States, Germany, and India.  This self-study version includes a detailed syllabus documenting content and duration to support your self-study CCE claim at renewal.
